Slime Tips

Here’s the easiest and safest way to remove slime from clothing — even dried slime:

Method 1: Vinegar (most effective)

Works for both fresh and dried slime.

What you need:

  • White vinegar
  • Warm water
  • A spoon or old toothbrush
  • Laundry detergent

Steps:

  1. Remove excess slime
Scrape off as much as you can with your fingers or a spoon.
  2. Soak the area with white vinegar
Pour vinegar directly onto the slime spot until it’s soaked.
→ Let it sit for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Scrub gently
Use a toothbrush to loosen the slime. You’ll see it start to dissolve.
  4. Rinse with warm water
Rinse out the vinegar and slime.
  5. Wash as normal
Throw it in the washing machine with regular detergent.

Method 2: Ice (if slime is sticky or gooey)

Helps when it’s very stuck.

  1. Put ice cubes in a ziplock bag.
  2. Press on top of the slime until it hardens.
  3. Scrape off the hardened pieces.
  4. Finish with the vinegar method above.

Method 3: Dish Soap + Warm Water

Good if you don’t have vinegar.

  1. Apply dish soap directly onto the slime.
  2. Scrub gently with warm water.
  3. Rinse and repeat until it lifts off.
  4. Wash in the machine.

 Avoid:

  • Putting it in the dryer until all the slime is gone — heat will set the stain.
  • Using bleach on slime—it doesn’t help and can damage colors.

How to remove glitter slime from clothing

What you need:

  • White vinegar
  • Warm water
  • Dish soap (optional)
  • A toothbrush
  • Tape or a lint roller

Step-by-step:

1. Remove as much slime as possible

Scrape off the big chunks with your fingers or a spoon.

2. Freeze the slime to make it easier

This helps with glitter too.

  • Put ice in a bag and press it onto the slime area
  • OR place the clothing in the freezer for 15–20 minutes

Once it hardens, break and peel off the pieces.

3. Soak with white vinegar

Pour white vinegar directly onto the remaining slime + glitter.

  • Let sit 10 minutes
  • Gently scrub with a toothbrush until the slime dissolves.

4. Rinse with warm water

This removes the vinegar and most glitter.

5. Remove leftover glitter

Use:

  • Tape (packing tape works best), or
  • A lint roller.

Press and lift repeatedly until the glitter is gone.

6. Wash normally

Use your regular detergent.

Air dry first — don’t use the dryer until you’re sure the stain is gone.

If any glitter stays after washing:

Repeat the tape/lint roller step while the fabric is dry!
